"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."- U.S. Army General George S. Patton & 1912 Olympian

Sunday June 21st: Our Fathers Day fun at the zoo

I asked the kids, "If dad was home what would you want to do for him for Fathers Day?" & they replied "GO TO THE ZOO!!" Seeing as this was our 5th time this summer I didn't take many pictures except for those priceless moments.

Ok, so before we even left the house to head to the zoo, Maximus found this snake on our sidewalk about 5 feet from the front door! We caught it & then released it across the HWY at Cheyenne Mt State Park.

Our fist stop: The bird cage.
Maximus had no trobule attracking the birds to him. He fed multiple birds when other guests couldn't get one bird to feed from them. Maximus my little bug whisper is now, "Boy verses Wild" or better yet "Bird Boy"

This was Maximus's favorite moment at the zoo today!!

It's so much more fun to see a bear at the zoo then in your trash can!! Look at his tongue hanging out... I think he's hungry.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen a real porcupine before, but this guy was huge with big RED teeth. He was hanging out high up in the tree & it was our first time ever to find the little stinker.

Maci's favorite zoo animal is the Hippo & was a MUST see at the zoo. She would never have let us leave otherwise. I don't understand her fascination, they are so so boring!!

Spray Park downtown Colorado Springs

After the circus we took Marlena to volunteering at the Library & then went over to the big park downtown to play in the water spray!! There were to many running children for Maci to actually get into this. But Maximus had a great time!!

ZING, ZANG, ZOOM!! Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey Circus Sunday June 14th

Maximus & Maci couldn't get their eyes off the circus for this group shot.
Crazy, these people were nuts, they were so super high off the ground!! CRAZY!!!

Maci & Caitlin~ Of course they wouldn't let me take a picture.

From the moment we sat down Maci wanted to see lions (all tigers & lions are lions to Maci)!! It wasn't until after intermission that we saw the "lions". And wouldn't you know by the time they came out she was asking to go home, "I done, the end." Is what she said.

Not as exciting as the 8 motorcycle stunt they did last year, but still good!!

Maximus's First Baseball Game "Dragons"

Saturday June 20th 10am game.
Maximus was terrific & he had so much fun!! He hit the ball 3 times (the same amount of times he was up at bat). And he scored two runs for the game. This league is 7-9 yr olds & the kids didn't have an opportunity to practice prior to the first game. The kids completed 3 full innings in 1 hr., no score was kept. Maximus played 3rd base & left field. He went after & caught two balls. He was so pumped to carry his bat/ball bag & wear his uniform. He really had a good time despite the 55 degree windy rainy morning!! Maci was a good fan yelling out, "Maximus number one!"

his ground ball hit that landed him on first base

Maximus scored this run from his hit along the 3rd base line.

4am Thursday June 18 @ the Denver Airport

My sweet baby girl Marlena all set & ready to go to DC. This was her first time flying without us. She was not a bit nervous, actually she was about to burst with excitment!! I've spoken to her a few times & she's having a blast. They have toured the monuments and went to Arlington National Cemetery & Mount Vernon. She loved the air & space museum. She is off to visit Williamsburg & the Jamestown Settlement tomorrow.
She bought this luggage for her trip with her birthday money. She was so excited to have cool luggage.

Camping at Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park

We arrived at Rocky Mt National Park, trying to beat the rain & to get a good camping spot!!
This was our view from the Glacier Basin Campground (elv. 8500 ft) that we stayed at.

This was the first Elk we saw & the picture is blurry because someone was in a hurry to set up & wouldn't stop so that I could get a good shot!! As you can see Scott's mocking me & saying, "oh sure lets stop to take pictures of animals so that Scott can set up the camper by himself in the rain." I still don't see why we couldn't just stop!

Scott has had the hammock longer than we've been married & he was so excited that he finally set it up & that there were two perfect trees for it to hang from. He also pointed out why it's important to save EVERYTHING. NOT!!!
Marlena turning our dinner, cajun shrimp. You know so that we can attract the bears!
Don't be fooled he's not drinking coffee. It's 5 o'clock somewhere.
Yummy, Princess Soup & Princess Spaghetti O's
A rare moment when they weren't fighting!!
Our sweet baby girl Marlena.

Bear Lake Trail Head , we hiked the 1 mile loop around Bear Lake & then hiked the 1.8 miles to Alberta Falls.

Alberta Falls- we tried to do a family picture after all that hard working hiking, but go figure not everyone was very cooperative.

Maximus making his own sling shot.
This is my favorite shot of the Apens!!
What's the best part of camping? The food!! Garlic chicken & bourbon baked beans.

Scott finally stopped so that I could take a decent picture!! He's so good to me!!

Time to pack up & head home.
