Maci had a great birthday!! Our lil sleeping princess woke up to a warm & sunny Colorado day. We first opened presents & then had a terrific afternoon at the zoo with her friends!

Maximus found a recipe on how to make Oliva cupcakes on Nick Jr.com & so I made them. The ears & nose are made out of pink melted chocolate. They were a hit!

Field Trip to the Money Museum: Civil War Exhibit

Maximus has been working on counting money all year & we just finished our unit about the Civil War. So... we took a field trip to the money muesum downtown. As soon as we walked in, there was a wall of Civil War histroy & Maximus was busy telling Maci that the Union soliders were from the North & that they wore blue coats & that the "bad guys" were in the south & had slaves & they wore grey uniforms. It was awesome hearing him tell her what he knew. He thought it was cool that the north & south had different money. But overall he was mostly fascinated with the Musket & Bayonet and wants dad to have one of thsoe guns!! LOL

So when Maci received her bike & I told her it was from mommy & daddy. She corrected me & said, " from my daddy". Scott gets all the credit. He's her hero!!

Sensei Mark is a 3rd degree black belt with 30 yrs experience. He is an instructor here in Colorado Springs, Ft Carson hired him to do a 2 day a week class for home schooled military children. The Army pays for the funding & we have met other terrific homeschooled families!! He focuses on the basics (& learning to control oneself) & self defense. In the following pictures it's just Sensei Mark & Maximus because no one else showed & Maximus recieved a private lesson.

We scored this terrific gently used bunk bed set & night stand for $275. WOO HOO!! What a deal. Maximus loves his new bed!!

Painting Eggs

When we read our easter books, the characters are always painting eggs, not dyeing them. So, this year we decided to paint our eggs. The kids are hooked & never want to go back to the yucky dye that STAINS everything!! We had lots of fun & Marlena did an amazing job!!
