"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."- U.S. Army General George S. Patton & 1912 Olympian

Sat April 3rd Easter Egg Hunt @ Trophy Point

It was a gorgeous 75 degree morning & a perfect day for an Ester Egg Hunt. Maci wanted nothing to do with any of it. There were 1000's of eggs & a couple hundred children. The hunts were broken down in ages, but that didn't matter to Maci. She didn't like the crowds of people lining up around the field. She was bumped into a few times & so when the whistle blew for her group to hunt for the eggs laying everywhere, she stood still not moving. She just stood still & stared at the children running around like mad. It was kinda funny!! She wouldn't even pick up the few eggs laying around by her feet. Oh... and she didn't want her Easter basket (it never came out of the car) she carried her purse instead. Marlena helped her National Honor Society friends pass out candy to the children. Marlena gave Maci a couple pieces of candy & that made her morning!
Maximus had no trouble getting aggressive & going after some eggs. He ended up with a nice collection of eggs!

Maximus planted himself by this tree to sort his eggs & see what his goodies were.
In the above picture Scott is talking with Maximus & Maci about the two girls that ran over to the tree trying to get Maximus's eggs. He was looking through his eggs & placing them out of the basket one by one to count them & 2 girls saw a small pile of eggs from the other side of the tree & ran around to find Maximus. He immediately put his arm out to guard his eggs & say "these are mine"! It was so funny!
Maci sucking on a small piece of candy. She acquired a few eggs in her purse & was pleased.
All done & heading home!

Spring Break Day Trip to NYC

Our adventure began on the 11:30am train out of Garrison to Grand Central Station! In this picture you can see the South Dock at West Point across the Hudson River. This marks our 3rd trip on the train to the city. Grandma & Grandpa Guerra bought the kids a NYC Annual Zoo & Aquarium pass. This picture was taken as we arrived to the Central Park Zoo. Shockingly....... the zoo does NOT have lions, zebras, giraffes or hippos!! We did see penguins and monkeys.

Of course the girls wouldn't indulge me by joining Maximus in this photo!

The rainforest was incredible! This bird was so bright it looked fake!

Those crazy lemurs from Madagascar are on the little island on the left!

The zoo was small, but very picturesque!!
The zoo is located in Central Park South, facing the famous Plaza Hotel. Rooms start at $675 at this super lush hotel!!! Needless to say we will not be staying at this hotel anytime soon. But, I have to admit it was terrific to be standing at the corner of 5th Ave & 59th St in Manhattan. I was giddy with excitment... Scott on the other hand was probably thinking it's just an old concrete building. He's not as easily enchanted as I am!
NOTE: In the above picture Grand Army Plaza (commemorating the Union Army in the Civil War) is on the left.
BELOW this is where I was standing to take the above photograph. Maximus & Maci enjoyed climbing on this colorful steel sculpture!!
After the zoo we walked 3 blocks to Dylans Candy Bar the famous 3-story candy store!!
Maci wanted to know if we couldeat these huge gummy bears!

"Mom is this bunny made of chocolate?"
Next stop..... dinner at Serendipity 3!! Located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
