"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."- U.S. Army General George S. Patton & 1912 Olympian

Valentines for Maci's Classmates

Before bed last night Maci helped with her Valentine's. I cut out hearts, wrote the saying on them & Maci used doublesided tape & stuck the hearts to the craisin packages. Little does she know that most moms will send in yummy candy, cookies & cupcakes!

Ok, so Maci is helping me with posting her pictures & asked about her pictures of her room. So... I showed her the pics & she said, "what happened to my picture you take of me with my poster." LOL, she loves her Gwen Stefani poster. This poster came with a Gwen (barbie type) doll she received from her Aunt TT for Christmas. Thanks Aunt Theresa! You rock. Oh & Maci's favorite Gwen Stefani song is "Sweet Escape".

Downstairs in our West Point "Grey Ghost" home!!

Our kitchen is huge, it's not as big as the kitchen in Texas, but I have tons more counter & cabinet space then ever before!!!!
Our stove is super old, but it works great!
I'm thinking about hanging the Terry Redlins on either side of the buffett.

Again, without our level not much is getting hung up. That includes my drapes!

Marlena's Room

Welcome to the room of a Pre-Teen! She has the largest bedroom out of all of us. Since when is a child's room bigger than the master bedroom? Hum....strange and unfair! She is very excited & unpacked her room herself. She has asked to organize & decorate it the way she likes. This has taken me a great deal of restraint. She keeps telling me she will get around to straightening up her bookcase shelves. I know it's a good thing to allow her the opportunity to express herself in her own private space. She likes to call it her own dorm room or apartment. I reminded her that she's 12 (13 next month) & not leaving for college yet. I also told her that most dorm rooms are half the size of her room & she'd be sharing!! LOL

Maximus's Room

Here we are in Maximus's room or the Planet Cybertron!! Now, if I could be that super cool mom & paint the walls black & add huge glow in the dark stars & planets Maximus would be in Transformer/ Star Wars heaven. Hum... how many coats of white paint would it take to paint over black?? The joys of government quarters!
We still need to hang up Max's Transformer window valance. Handmade by Grandma Guerra! When we find our level we will hang his shelves & we can put up his huge Bumblebee Transformer!!

How many t-shirts does 1 boy need??

Maci's Room

Welcome to Maci's Room. She was very excited to show it off even though her mommy has not hung her curtains. Take note that Maci is dressed as if it's 90 degrees out. It was a big ole 22 degrees today (not that Maci could feel it). Her world is full of sunshine!!!

Ever since we went to Disney World Maci has talked about how she is going to work at Cinderella's Castle when she grows up. So... I just had to add it to her wall.
Below is Maci's Self Portrait. I thought it was so great I just had to frame it!!!

The new TV

Many of you already know we have 1 tv in our home & that we are a little slower at embracing new technology. We were faced with having to purchase a new tv when our 13 year old Sony 32" box tv arrived off the truck in pieces!!! While most of our friends & family have huge wide screen tvs with amazing features & incredible clarity we still couldn't bring ourselves to spending so much money on anything bigger. So... we have a new 32" wide screen that fits modestly in the same old Armoire (where I can still close & hide the tv). Yes, we now have HD channels & I have to admit it's so so worth it!!! The kids love the new tv & have found weekend Wii playing to be even more awesome!

If You Give A Mom a Muffin....

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day! I especially love muffins. I have made all kinds of muffins from scratch & out of box mixes. In my attempt to make the perfect healthy yet delicious muffin I found a new mix. Duncan Hines Whole Grain Apple Cinnamon Muffins with a oatmeal granola topping. YUMMY!!! So.... yesterday morning when Marlena & Maximus had a late start at school due to weather I baked these delicious lil muffins. It was a great start to another day of unpacking & organizing our new home!
