"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."- U.S. Army General George S. Patton & 1912 Olympian

Camping at Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park

We arrived at Rocky Mt National Park, trying to beat the rain & to get a good camping spot!!
This was our view from the Glacier Basin Campground (elv. 8500 ft) that we stayed at.

This was the first Elk we saw & the picture is blurry because someone was in a hurry to set up & wouldn't stop so that I could get a good shot!! As you can see Scott's mocking me & saying, "oh sure lets stop to take pictures of animals so that Scott can set up the camper by himself in the rain." I still don't see why we couldn't just stop!

Scott has had the hammock longer than we've been married & he was so excited that he finally set it up & that there were two perfect trees for it to hang from. He also pointed out why it's important to save EVERYTHING. NOT!!!
Marlena turning our dinner, cajun shrimp. You know so that we can attract the bears!
Don't be fooled he's not drinking coffee. It's 5 o'clock somewhere.
Yummy, Princess Soup & Princess Spaghetti O's
A rare moment when they weren't fighting!!
Our sweet baby girl Marlena.

Bear Lake Trail Head , we hiked the 1 mile loop around Bear Lake & then hiked the 1.8 miles to Alberta Falls.

Alberta Falls- we tried to do a family picture after all that hard working hiking, but go figure not everyone was very cooperative.

Maximus making his own sling shot.
This is my favorite shot of the Apens!!
What's the best part of camping? The food!! Garlic chicken & bourbon baked beans.

Scott finally stopped so that I could take a decent picture!! He's so good to me!!

Time to pack up & head home.

Lil Miss Fancy

Never mind the trunk full of Disney princess dresses & Fancy Nancy dresses in her room. Maci knows how to doll up her own sundress!!

In this last pic, Maci notices her friend Caitlin outside and asked, "my fend plays wif me now, yes no mom".

Take me out to the ballgame...June 4th Sky Sox Game

The kids received signed souvenir balls from Fox the Sox team mascot!

You can't go to a game unless you buy hotdogs!! Right?

Sky Sox won 16 to 8! Great game!!

Pikes Peak Teen Volunteer: Summer Reading Program

Scott helping Marlena with the online registration of her first cell phone. She was/is so excited to have a cell phone to take with on her Washington DC trip and for babysitting. I have been surprised by the number of families that only have cell phones & in case of an emergency Marlena wouldn't have a phone because clearly the parent would leave the house with their own cell phone---so Scott & I broke down & gave in to the cell phone concept!!
Friday June 5th 2009
Marlena's first day as a teen volunter at the downtown library. She registers kids in the summer reading program & rewards them their incentives when they reach their goals.
